Lighting: still image analysis

There is a strong contrast between light and dark as this is evident in that actors face between portrayed in the dark (with a bit of light) and the prop, being the smoke, is lit up. There is a presence of a key light as the left side of the actors face is very bright and is counteracted with the filler light which created an affect on the actor.

You could also argue that there is evidence of High-key lighting as the actor appears more realistic and that the shadows have been softened by a filler light. But on the other hand, there is minor contrast between light and dark as there is a clear different of brightness on the actors face.

There is minor use of top lighting as some bits of the actors hair has been lit up, which depicts it. There is no under lighting and this may be because it is a completely different genre as under lighting is mainly used for horror movies. There is also back lighting but is not presented as much to perform a silhouette.

2) You could argue that there is key lighting as the actors face is shown whereas her whole body is darkened. This creates a sense of mystery and horror.
There is little to no high key lighting as there us no shadows but the scene is dimly presented. This also creates a sense of curiosity in whats happening in the dark but also the face if suddenly shown which expresses her facial expressions.

There is under lighting as it creates a horrific scene for the actor and makes the character look more sinister. There is mainly top lighting from above, which we could also argue being motivated lighting (NATURAL). This is effective as it tells the audience that the actor is trapped or something bad might occur. There is no back lighting as there is no silhouette created.

3) The actor is shown to be more rounded. This may be due to the key and back light counteracting with each other making the character look powerful. There is also the sense of realism portrayed by the actor which is done by high-key lighting which also allows the character to look powerful.

There is no under lighting as it is not a horror film and is shown to be outside, presumably in a battle field. There is some evidence of top lighting because there is a shadow underneath the actors eyes. You could also say that there is back lighting to portray the sun which emphasises the relationship with God and power.

4) There is a contrast between light and dark. The bottom half is predominantly dark whereas the face is lit up by under lighting and top lighting to create that sci-fi effect. There is clear evidence of high-key lighting  as the image is softened to make it look more realistic.

5) In this image, there is a strong contrast between light and dark which creates peace and makes the actor seem harmonious. There is also the sense of realism due to the filler light softening the shadows for beauty.
