Film poster analysis

Harrison Ford: Blade Runner

This film poster communicates a futuristic look due the lighting. A lighting portrayed is underlighting which makes the poster appear more realistic. The lighting comes from under the actor and gives it a distorted effect. Another point would be the setting on the poster which portrays futurism. The constructions are too modern for this society which adds that science-fiction affect. The actors demonstrate a dull and confident facial expression which could portray the sinister atmosphere of the future. This is backed up by the lighting making the actors seem glamorous which adds that dominance. This film is aimed at the younger generation.

Scary Movie 2
The variety of facial expressions shows the comedic genre of this film which contrasts from the title. The lack of shadow also adds that glamorous affect and the lack of shadow is done by the filler light which softens it. This also means that it is more comedic than horror due to the lack of underlighting giving it a sinister feel. In fact the Top lighting had accentuated the characters which makes it difficult is identify the horror side of the film. Also the costume is evidence for a comedic film due the phrase '' I love dead people '' backed up by her posture and here facial expression contradicts itself.

UZAK
This poster portrays mystery due to the lack of identity of the actor. This long shot sets the mood of the character as it seems very slow paced. This is backed up by the dullness of the costume being mainly the colour black. There is mostly motivated lighting being all natural showing no futurism or comedic sides.

IM NOT SCARED
This poster is very effective in drawing the audience as we are in the setting 'being looked at'. The audience may feel vulnerable as we are approached from above. There is motivated back-lighting from the sky showing a half silhouette. this also adds that lack of dominance as we are helpless. The facial expression from the boy is very menacing.

Sin City
This poster mainly shows underlighting which adds that science fiction scenery. The scenery is very dark added that negative feel which is backed up by the prop being a 'futuristic gun'.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Bridge & Prejudice
This scene is very colourful showing happiness and love which is opposite to the dark and sinister feel. The facial expressions portrayed by the character reveals a humorous side of the movie. This film is family based. The scenery is modern due to the sky scrapers in the background. The lighting makes the characters stand out which portrays happiness and positivity

Million Dollar Baby
There has been a silhouette created due to the character showing her back to the audience. The medium close-up shot is predominantly in the shadow which adds mystery and curiosity of the characters actions.
