I believe it means when a TV drama has continuous plots at the end of every episode which is later revealed in the next episode

The TV dramas are very effective in drawing the audience in as it involves the uage of cold opening whereby a clip of the episode is played before the title sequence so that the audience are more interested and draws them in. It creates enigmas.

The setting of a TV Drama considers the mood of the audience which therefore attracts the audience into watching more the the drama. Setting also tells the audience whats about to happen so the audience of on edge which can be used as diversion

Nowadays TV drama uses wide range of characters in order for the audience to either gain personal identity or relationship with the characters. Minorities are being used more which also adds realism which gives a sense of diversion

When a tv drama has a range of interconnected storylines. An example would be Prison break

Todorovs theory of equilibrium can be used as there always harmony in the beginning but to gain interest the directors usually add a disequilibrium meaning the harmony has been disturbed to allow the audience to feel on edge.
